Valendina "Dena" F. (Santoro) McKeown Valendina "Dena" F. (Santoro) McKeown , 101, of Brockton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at West Acres Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Brockton. She was the wife of the late Francis L. McKeown. Born on January 5, 1911 in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Santoro and Carmella (Colucci) Santoro. Dena was a graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1929 and Brockton Business School, Class of 1931. Before her marriage she worked as a secretary at the Hamilton Wade Company. After raising her children she worked alongside her friends at the F.B. Washburn candy factory In her retirement she enjoyed relaxing in the sun on West Dennis Beach and spending time with her family. She is survived by her children, Joanne M. Nelson and her husband Donald E. of Brockton, MA., Carole J. Foster and her husband Stephen W. of Hampton, NH., the late Francis X. McKeown and his wife Elaine of Plympton, MA. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Francis X. McKeown; Grandson, Francis X. McKeown II and Great Grandson, Craig T. Nelson. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., Brockton on Wednesday, January 11 at 8:00AM thence to St. Edith Stein/St. Edward Parish, 71 East Main St., Brockton where a funeral Mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul at 9:00AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00-7:00PM.
