Valerie A. (Tasho) Callahan
Valerie Anne (Tasho) Callahan, of North Easton, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Brigham Women's Hospital in Boston. She was the beloved wife of Norbert F. Callahan and mother of Stephanie A. Callahan.
She was born in Cambridge, daughter of Sam and Helen (Sexeny) Tasho. Valerie was raised in Brockton and had a distinguished academic career. She was the first female class president at West Junior High School and graduated from Brockton High School. She later spent one year studying in London while attending New England College from where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts.
Valerie was also successful in business. She worked at Rockland Trust Company for over 10 years. She also held positions with the United Way, Leading Edge Computers, Newbury College and Leslie College.
Valerie was an avid sports fan. She especially loved going to Fenway Park to see the Boston Red Sox and to Foxborough to see the New England Patriots. She cherished her time at the beach with family and friends at Nantasket Beach, on Cape Cod and in Florida. Travel was also her passion, having seen many destinations in the US and Europe. But, above all, she was committed to her family.
She is survived by her loving husband, Norbert F. Callahan; her adored daughter, Stephanie Anne Callahan; her loving parents, Sam and Helen (Sexeny) Tasho; her cherished siblings, Lorraine T. Chalas and her husband Bruce, and Steven C. Tasho and his wife Barbara; her niece and nephews, Nicole Chalas, Gregory Chalas and Steven R. Tasho.
Funeral Information
Funeral services will be held in the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Thursday at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home Wednesday 3:00-7:00PM.
