Online Obituaries Vasil George, 84, of Brockton, passed away peacefully Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was the loving husband of Helen (Dimitri) George for 54 years. Born August 8, 1932 in Gostivisht, Albania, he was the son of the late Leonidas George and Constandina (Kote) George. He came to America at the age of 4 and then later protected his country as a member of the United States Army. Vasil graduated from Brockton High School in 1951 where he was the co-captain of the football team. In 1948 he led his team to victory over Edison High at the Orange Bowl in Florida. Vasil started his career with Brockton Edison and worked in the Maps & Records Department. He retired 38 years later with Eastern Utilities. He was a member of St. George Cathedral in South Boston. A longtime member of the Brockton YMCA where he was an avid racquetball player and a member of the Baalis Sanford Lodge in Brockton. He enjoyed woodworking and was the owner of Woodcraft by Vasile for many years. He also enjoyed working in his yard and maintaining his home. He had a passion for food, especially anything homemade. He loved a hot cup of coffee, although it was never quite hot enough. Vasil was a connoisseur of the local coffee shops where he and his friends would solve all the problems of the world. He enjoyed summers with his young family at Old Silver Beach and fishing with his boys at Gray Gables. He is survived by his wife, Helen (Dimitri) George; his sons, Christopher L. George of Brockton and Matthew P. George and his wife Heidi of Reading; his beloved grandson, Theodore 'Teddy' V. George; his sister-in-law, Dorothy Dimitri; his brother-in-law, James Dimitri. He was the brother-in-law of the late Marion Dimitri. He is also survived by many lifelong friends who adored him. Funeral Information Funeral services will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) BROCKTON on Wednesday, January 4th at 10:00AM.
