Karalolos, Vasiliki, 90, of Brockton, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning, February 1, 2017. She was the devoted and loving wife of the late Kosmas Karalolos to whom she was married for 63 years.
Born on June 15, 1926 in Axiokastro Kozani, Greece, Vasiliki was the daughter of the late Georgios and Evgenia (Hasiotis) Stergiopoulos.
She married and raised a young family in Greece until immigrating to Brockton, MA in 1973 with her husband and two children, Evmorfia and Evangelo. Vasiliki was employed as an electronics technician for over 20 years. After retiring, she cherished the time she spent with her four grandsons, Elias Sanopoulos and his wife Eleni of Brooklyn, NY; Cosmo, Steve and Victor Karalolos of Peabody, MA; and her great granddaughters Evmorfia, Vasiliki, and Konstantina Sanopoulos. She enjoyed cooking and baking her specialty Greek dishes for family and friends. Her tyropites, pastitso, and finikia were among some of their favorites.
She was a devout Greek Orthodox Christian and lifelong member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Brockton, MA. She selflessly volunteered to bake for church festivals and functions. Vasiliki was the loving mother of Evmorfia Sanopoulos and her husband Konstantinos; Evangelo Karalolos and his wife Kathy. Predeceased by loving husband Kosmas Karalolos and brothers Konstantinos and Michael Stergiopoulos. She is also survived by her sister in-law Panagiota Papadopoulos of Bethlehem, PA, sister in-law Athena Stergiopoulos in Greece and brother in-law Sotirios Karalolos of Nurnberg, Germany, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Saturday at 9:00AM followed by a funeral service in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak St., Brockton at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00PM.
