Veronica “Midge” Scanlon, age 82, of Brockton, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, at Boston Medical Center, surrounded by love and family. She is the daughter of the late Frederick and Veronica Graham of Quincy, MA.
Born on December 10, 1943, in Boston, MA, Midge grew up in Quincy, MA and later moved to Brockton where she and her husband James raised their two sons.
Prior to her retirement, she was the Judicial Secretary and Head Administrative Assistant for the Plymouth Probate & Family Court in Brockton MA, for over 20 years. She was known for her straightforward, practical approach and funny sense of humor.
Midge was the heart and soul of the home and family and put the needs of those she loved before her own. Their happiness, health, and success were what fulfilled her the most. Her happiest times were spent in her kitchen preparing meals and bringing her loved ones together. Her cooking, baking, decorating and special traditions filled every holiday, creating lifelong memories. Her love for the Christmas season brought joy to all those around her and will continue on in the years ahead. She had a gift for humor and quick wit that kept everyone on their toes.
Midge and her husband James were decades-long members of the Brockton Band Boosters Association, graciously dedicating their time and effort in support of the Brockton High School music students.
She is survived by her devoted husband, James Scanlon; her son Michael Scanlon and his wife Kristy of Brockton; her son Brian Scanlon of Orlando, FL; her sister Janet Taylor and her husband Roy of Niceville, FL; her nephew Jeremy Taylor and his wife Lauren of Stoneham, MA; her niece Kristin Chase and her husband Brian of Boylston, MA; her cherished great nieces and nephews; extended family members; and many dear friends.
Her legacy is one of love, laughter, kindness, and dedication to all those she loved. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
A funeral will be held on Friday, April 17,2026 from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St. Brockton, with a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Milton Cemetery in Milton, MA. Visting hours will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Conley Funeral Home.
