Obituary

Vincent M. Colombo Vincent M. Colombo , Jr., passed away peacefully at age 90 on Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Southeast Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in Easton after a 7 year illness. He was the loving husband of his wife Martha (Stevens) Colombo for 67 years. Born April 11, 1923, Vincent was the son of the late Vincent and Concetta (Ippolito) Colombo, Sr. Vincent served his country in WWII in the European theater, as a sergeant in Company C, 296th Engineers Combat Battalion. He received a Good Conduct Medal, Theater Campaign Ribbon and Victory Medal. A lifelong resident of Brockton, Vincent was a lineman for the Brockton Edison company and retired as a supervisor after 37 years. He was an avid golfer, having played in many leagues at various golf courses, including his favorite D.W. Fields in Brockton. He was a fan of Boston sports and especially loved the game of baseball. He conveyed many special memories of James Edgar playground, where he played the game throughout his youth, and he later played semi-pro ball in various leagues and ballparks. He loved dining out, dancing, and travelling with his devoted wife, Martha, and he enjoyed spending time with his many friends, cousins and extended family, and especially treasured his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Vincent is survived by his sons, Paul Colombo and wife Janet of Lakeville, Steven Colombo and his wife Loretta of Medway, Robert Colombo and his wife Donna of Middleboro, Jack Colombo and his wife Cynthia of Brockton, and his late daughter, Gail Colombo; his 10 grandchildren, Gina, Karen, Alicia, Julia, Courtney, Gail, Holly, Vincent, Brianna and Victoria; his 2 great grandchildren, Meghan and Mari; his sister, Jeannette Small of Bridgewater; he is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother of the late Carmen Frawley, Gloria Caplice, Lucy Saba and Louis Colombo. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Friday, March 28th at 8:00AM thence to St. Edith Stein/St. Edwards Parish where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 9:00AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral on Thursday from 4:00-7:00PM.
