Vincent Cornelio was born January 6, 1931 to Antonio and Lucia Guisti Cornelio in Lettomanopella Italy. At the age of 5 the family moved to Cambridge, MA where Vinny attended and graduated from high school. At a young age Vinny began installing tile and eventually became a glazier and worked many years for Acme Glass. At age 18 Vinny joined the Army National Guard. He was in the 26th infantry Yankee Division and climbed the ladder to become a Master Sargent over his 42 year career. Vinny served under and became life long friends with many generals including Lt. General Nicholas Del Toro, Major General Joseph Hegarty, and Major General Joseph Saladino. Vinny was an accomplished accordian player, an incredible cook and a wonderful friend.  Vinny married Elizabeth Cornelio in 1987 and they made Middleboro their home. Vinny was always seen around town at the donut shop, the bank, Oakhill nursing home and always at the Elks. Vincent was the father of Dr. Sarah Derosier and her husband David, and Patricia Krause. Melody Ring was also like a daughter to Vinny and Elizabeth.  Vinny also has 2 grandsons, Andrew Krause and his wife Nichol, and Brendan Krause and his wife Samantha. Also survived by his brother -in-law Bruno Toppi. Vinny was predeceased by his sisters Anna Morris (Eddie deceased), and Antoinette Toppi. Also predeceased by his son Steven Vera. Vinny is also survived by many loving and caring nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Vinny's family would like to extend a heart felt thank you to all of the loving support and care of the entire staff at Oakhill Nursing Home. Visitation will be held at the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 17 Main Street, Lakeville, MA on Friday October 4th from 8 to 9:30 am. His mass of Christian burial will follow at Sacred Heart Church: St. Isadore Parish, 340 Center Street, Middleboro at 10 am Interment Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Buzzards Bay, MA.
