Violet Louis (Beach) Furr
, 72, of Boston, died Saturday, May 16, 2009 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Born March 19, 1937 in Norwell, she was the daughter of the late William F. Beach, Sr. and Grace (Morales) Beach. Violet moved to Boston in 1947. As a teenager she worked for Filenes's Department Store for a short time before becoming a stay at home mom.
Some of Violet's favorite things to do were watching television (She was a TV junky) and playing 500 Gin Rummy. Here favorite foods were Chinese, spaghetti, boiled chicken noodles (Which she mastered) and sherbert ice cream. One of her favorite singing artist was Jackie Wilson "Stop Doggin Me Around" and her favorite color was blue. Violet joined Morning Star Baptist Church in Dorchester on January 11, 2004 and shortly thereafter was baptized.
Violet leaves to cherish her many memories; her children, Joanne Isler, Deborah Furr, and John Furr, Jr., children of John Furr, Sr., also Robert Furr, Stephen Furr, and Kenneth Furr; her brothers, William Beach, Jr., Leonard Beach, Eugene Beach, Sheldon Beach, and Richard Beach; her sister, June Furr; her 13 grandchildren, Jannette (Furr) Reese, Thomas Furr, John Furr, Marcia (Furr) Simmons, Dorian Furr, Willie Furr, Michael Furr, Latica Dottin, Lashay Johnson, Nakima Isler, Stephen Furr, Troy Lawson, and Jamie Lawson; she is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. She was the mother of the late Roger Furr and she was the sister of the late Wendall Beach, Niles Beach, Louise Foskey, and Berniece Beach.
Funeral Information
Calling hours in the Morning Star Baptist Church, 1257 Blue Hill Avenue, Mattapan on Friday morning 10:00AM-11:00AM followed by a funeral service in the church at 11:00AM. Interment will be private.
