Obituary

Virginia M. O’Connor (De Cost) “Ginger” age 84, a lifelong resident of Brockton, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center.

Born, raised, and educated in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Eva (Reynolds) Peterson.

Ginger worked at various local nursing facilities and hospitals as a nurse’s aide for many years.

An avid painter, she especially enjoyed creating oil paintings. She enjoyed travelling, going to the casino’s, playing scrabble and doing puzzles. Virginia was a member of Word of God Church in Brockton and was also a member of the Red Hat Society. She will be remembered for being a jokester. Ginger found fault with no one.

Virginia is survived by her children Pamela O’Connor and her fiancé Jeff Pelrine of Weymouth, James M. O’Connor and his wife Eunice of East Bridgewater and Eva O’Connor of Brockton; a sister Janet Chilton of Fall River; a brother in law George “Bill” Meada of FL; three grandchildren Kiyana McCray and her husband Jonathan, James O’Connor and his wife Christie and Michael O’Connor and his fiancé Melia; five great grandchildren Laron Gunderway, Jaymie O’Connor, McKenna O’Connor, Arianna O’Connor and Michael O’Connor; a cousin Joyce of FL and her two best friends Faye Bostic and Pat Mallon. Ginger also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins. Godmother of Gena and she was the sister of the late Ruth Meada.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to visit with Ginger’s family on Monday, July 8, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, with a funeral service beginning at 6:00 pm, in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton. Interment will be private.
