Virginia T. Stell
Virginia T. (Barros) Stell, 88, of Brockton, went to meet our Lord after a short illness on Thursday, March 6, 2008.
Born April 8, 1919 in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Barros and Catherine (Pires) Barros. She graduated from Wareham High School in 1937, as valedictorian.
She moved to Boston, married, and had four children. She was very active in the Mother's Club at the Morgan Memorial. Virginia worked as a stitcher most of her adult life and retired in 1975.
Virginia moved to San Diego, California in 1976 where she was a communicant of St. Charles Church and a member of the Cape Verdeans of Southern California. In 2003, she moved to Apple Valley, California. In 2007 when her health started to fail she moved to her daughter's home in Scituate.
She is survived by her children, Geneva Seerattan of Brockton, Asia Silva of South Dartmouth, MaryAnn Roderiques of Scituate, Gerald Barros of Brockton, and Claudio T. Cardoza of CA; her sisters and brothers, Mary P. Silva of Plymouth, Madeline Fernandes of Sharon, Florence Miranda of Dorchester, August Barros of Carver, and Manuel Barros of CA; she is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was the sister of the late Ella Timas and Edward Perry.
Funeral Information
A funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul on Friday at 11:00AM in St. Katharine Drexal Church, 517 Blue Hill Ave., Boston. Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Thursday 4:00-8:00PM.
