Vitalina Fernandes Monteiro, 101, of Brockton, passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 12, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center. Vitalina hailed from Figueira Pavao, Cape Verde and spent her twilight years in Brockton, MA with her extensive family. Vitalina is predeceased by her parents Delfina "Cumanzinha" and Boaventura "Nenè"Fernandes, and her maternal guardian Preta de Nha' Chinha. Vitalina was known to have 12 children total but unfortunately was predeceased by six of her children of various ages with unknown causes. She was later predeceased by her husband Berao "Fidjo" Monteiro. Vitalina Is survived by her children Antonio Monteiro, Arthur Monteiro, Delfina Pires, Manuel Monteiro, Alice Depina, and Virginia Jorge. She also has 3 step children, Berao Monteiro Jr., Emanuel Monteiro "Nene" and Julia Monteiro. She was also a great great "VoVo" to 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren. Vitalina was known for her love, and compassion for everyone. She was a very special lady who was loved by many. She was everyone's VoVo. Vitalina had that special way of making everyone she met feel special and a part of her family. Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St.(Rt.123), Brockton on Wednesday, August 17th at 9:00AM thence to St. Edith Stein Parish, 71 E. Main St., Brockton where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul at 10:30AM. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Funeral Home on Tuesday August 16th from 5:00PM-8:00PM.
