Waldo N. Roby, Sr., 92, of Lakeville, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at the Alden Court Nursing Home in Fairhaven. He was the husband of Norma (Hamilton) Roby and the late Mildred J. Roby.
Born March 26, 1932 in Middleboro, he was the son of the late Nathan and Alice Roby. He attended Plymouth Carver High school and Williams business school for 2 years. He served in the United States Army as a Sergeant during the Korean Conflict.
Waldo was the Owner and Operator of Roby's Propane Gas for over 60 years with the help of many longtime loyal employees led by the devoted leadership of Wayne Rutledge, Joyce Bacchiocchi and Wally Roby, Jr.
He was the Founder of the MJR Foundation in honor of his late wife Mildred Jane Roby, which gave thousands of dollars in scholarships each year.
He had many other successful businesses, Tremont Ice,-Roby's Energy,-Northeast Motorhomes,-Truck Caps Unlimited,-South Coast Hearth & Patio and -Crossroad Trailers.
He had many interests, hobbies and had a profound impact on his communities. He was a member of the Social Harmony Masonic Lodge of Wareham, He was a member of Eastern Star, He served on several boards and committees in Wareham, He served as The Chief of Fire Engineers in Lakeville, Sponsor and fan of Boehler's Racing Car#3 (Ole Blue) and was an Avid fan and season ticket holder of the Pawtucket Red Sox.
Waldo is survived by his wife, Norma Roby; his children, Janet Sanchez and her husband Alex, Lee Ann Beaulieu, Waldo Roby Jr., his wife Alison: His stepchildren, Frank Alvilhiera and his wife Hollie, Lori Canedy and her husband Gary; His grandchildren, Evan Bowers, Tobias Ward, Matt Sanchez, Samantha Black-Glenn, Caitlin Canedy, Jillian Alvilhiera and Kacie Alvilhiera. As well as several great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Lenny Roby and Alan Roby.
