Walter Anthony Allegro
Walter Anthony Allegro
, 49, of Newport Coast, California and formerly of Brockton, Massachusetts, passed away on December 9, 2010 in Santa Monica, California, following a courageous battle with Lipo-Sarcoma Cancer. He is the son of Walter and Teresa (Daversa) Allegro, both of Brockton, Massachusetts.
A native of Brockton, Walter Anthony was a heralded sportsman at Brockton High School where he played both varsity hockey and varsity baseball. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #35 Baseball Team. Following his high school graduation in 1979, Walter Anthony pursued his studies and played hockey at Framingham State University. He went on to graduate with honors from Stonehill College in Easton, MA in 1985, receiving a Bachelor's of Science degree in Health Care Administration.
Walter Anthony's professional career was focused on medical sales. After an initial start in the Boston area, his work brought him to Clearwater, Florida in 1990 where he lived for seventeen years. The majority of his career was spent with General Electric, from which he retired after twelve years due to his illness. The warmer days in Florida allowed him to spend much of his free time devoted to his passion for golf. It was also during this period where Walter Anthony became a pet-owner and was lovingly devoted to the well-being of his cats Meatball and Bella and his dog Mia.
In 2007, his career brought him to Newport Coast, California. It was here where Walter Anthony became an active parishioner of the 'The Gathering' and 'Free Chapel,' two communities of faith which gave him much strength during these last two and a half years of fighting cancer.
Most important in his valiant effort to live was his beloved family, especially his parents and sisters who were steadfast in their support and with him until his final moments.
Walter Anthony is survived by his loving family, including: his parents Walter and Teresa, his sisters, Karen Trent of Sandwich, Massachusetts and Kathy DeMarsh of Plymouth, Massachusetts; his two brother-in-laws, Mark Trent and Leo DeMarsh, Jr; and his nephews and nieces, the late Mark Anthony Trent, Matthew and Kara Trent, Katie, Jonathan and Leo DeMarsh.
