Walter "Billy" Salvador, 74, of West Bridgewater died on August 9, 2023.

Born in Brockton on July 5, 1949, he was the son of the late Walter W. Salvador and Esther (Cruz) Salvador. Billy was a graduate of West Bridgewater High School in the class of 1967. After graduation, he joined the United States Navy, serving from 1968 to 1974 during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Bergall as a sonarman in the Submarine Service.

Billy worked in the insurance field and owned Salvador & Company in Bridgewater.

He enjoyed sports and served as a coach, umpire, and referee for youth sports. He never missed Jeopardy and usually knew all the answers. He loved to play board games with friends, go out to dinner, and enjoyed any social event. He was proud of his Portuguese heritage and never missed a fiesta in Bridgewater. He was also a congregant of West Bridgewater Cochesett Methodist Church and loved his family and animals.

Billy is survived by his daughter Christy (Salvador) Savoie and her husband Kyle of Brockton; his daughter-in-law Lauren (Wood) Salvador of Weymouth; his granddaughter Abigail Salvador of Weymouth; his siblings Paul Salvador of Bridgewater and Anne Hallisey and her husband John of Middleboro; his nephews Mark Salvador and Doug Salvador of Bridgewater; his former wife Janet Salvador of Brockton; his Uncle Denis Cruz and wife Lois of West Bridgewater, and many cousins. He is predeceased by his son, the late William G. Salvador.

A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, August 18th from 3:00-6:00 PM in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 S. Main St., (Rt.28) West Bridgewater followed by a memorial service at 5:30 PM.
