Wayne E. Brooks
, 71, of Norton and formerly of Taunton, Easton and East Bridgewater, died Sunday, January 10, 2010 at the Brigham Women Hospital in Boston surrounded by loved ones, family and friends. He was the loving husband of Joanne (Boushell) Brooks of Norton.
Born July 18, 1938 in Brockton, he was the son of the late Strafford Brooks and Claire (Cooper) Brooks. He graduated from East Bridgewater High School in 1956 and then served in the United States Air Force.
Wayne was the owner of Highway 66 Service of Easton for 40 years. Upon his retirement, he taught automotive repair and other technical shops at Bristol-Plymouth Regional Vocational Technical High School where he loved and was loved by the students.
Wayne loved to travel, deep sea fishing, and mentoring to young people.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joanne (Boushell) Brooks; his sons, Thomas Brooks of Easton and David John Brooks of Raynham; his brothers, Arthur Brooks and his wife Adele of Ocala, Florida and David Brooks and his wife Bette of Brockton; his sister June Stearns and her companion Wayne Oliver of Tiverton, Rhode Island; he is also survived by many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral Information
Following cremation, a memorial gathering will be held in the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Monday from 10:00AM - 11:00AM followed by a Remembrance Service at 11:00AM.
