Online Obituaries Wayne B. Hollingsworth, went to join his Lord on Friday, March 4, 2016 after a long and valiant struggle with medical issues, at the age of 82. He was the husband of June (Aubrey) Hollingsworth for 57 years. Born in Medford, Massachusetts in 1933 to Luella and Wilbur Hollingsworth, Wayne was a 1951 graduate of Arlington High School in Arlington, Massachusetts. Wayne served on active military duty in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He attended the University ofMaryland while in the service, Boston University and Boston University School of Law where he obtained his Juris Doctor degree in 1961. In 1958 he met the love of his life, June Lee Aubrey, at Boston University and they were married in 1959 while he was attending law school. In 1961, upon graduation from law school, the family moved to Maine where Wayne, having passed the Maine Bar exam, had been offered the position of Assistant Attorney General for the State of Maine. In 1968 the family, which included daughters Lisa, Lynn and son, Jon, moved back to Massachusetts where Wayne became Director of Education for the American Trial Lawyers Association. Shortly after that he became Assistant United States Attorney for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and he remained in that position for many years. During that time he represented the IRS in the prosecution of some of its more famous cases involving white collar fraud and counterfeiting. He then represented Raytheon Corporation for several years before entering the private practice of law in Boston in 1981. Representing Pittsburgh Corning in its defense of over 5,000 asbestos cases was one of the highlights of his career. An avid fisherman, photographer, pilot, traveler, Wayne was always ready for the next adventure. Over their 57 years together trips to South Africa, Switzerland to ski, various countries in Europe, Grand Cayman and two Alaska trips by motorhome (Did he ever catch salmon!!!) made wonderful memories for both Wayne and June. Gatherings on the lake at their home in Mount Vernon, Maine gave him wonderful memories. He particularly enjoyed landing on the lake with his Lake Amphibian airplane and taxiing up the ramp that he had designed. He spent many happy hours on the lake fishing and enjoying watching and photographing the loons. For the past twenty years Wayne and June have lived in the Spruce Creek Fly-In Community in Port Orange, Florida. The place is a pilot's dream with a 4,000 foot runway, over 700 airplanes and homes with hangars attached to them. When he was still able to fly, Wayne enjoyed opening the large hangar door and taxiing his plane down the taxiway to the runway to become airborne once again. As a pilot, Wayne loved the community and was an active member of it through 2015. Wayne dearly loved his children and was so very proud of them as they matured and became loving, caring adults. He was proud of his five grandchildren who all called him "Peba". Wayne never met a person that he could not find a good quality in and, as a result of that, had many friends worldwide that kept in constant contact with him through the internet. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, June. Not too long ago they talked of all the things they have done over their marriage and how blessed they are to have such a happy and healthy family. His family has been so supportive of him during his declining health the past few years. He loved each and every one, spoke of them constantly and enjoyed their many, almost daily, calls to check in with him. Survivors include his two daughters, Lisa Hollingsworth-Mooney and her husband, Paul, of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, Lynn Schreiner and her husband, David, of Ashland, Massachusetts and son, Jon Hollingsworth and his wife, Lorreen, of Wellesley, Massachusetts. He will also be missed by his five grandchildren, Lanna and Monica Mosca, Sarah, Brad and Emily Hollingsworth and his three brothers, David Hollingsworth and William Hollingsworth of Maine, Peter Hollingsworth of Mexico and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. David Schreiner's sons, Joseph, Dave, and Steve and his wife, Mary, will remember him fondly as well. Funeral Information A Funeral Service will be held in the Brown and Hickey Funeral Home, 36 Trapelo Road, Belmont, MA on Saturday, March 12th at 9:30AM.
