Wayne Edward McAllister, 69, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at his home in Brockton surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Sharon (Payne) McAllister of Brockton.
Born February 26, 1947 in Boston, MA he was the son of the late William and Helen D. (Hoard) McAllister.
He served in the U.S. Army from which he was honorably discharged and was a retired firefighter for the City of Brockton.
Mr. McAllister served as V.P. of the Brockton Fire Department Union Local 144, a member of the mayors crime & drug taskforce, Brockton Chapter of NAACP, Planning Board for the City of Brockton, serving as chairperson for three years; Elected member of S.E. Regional School Committee, being the first elected member of color; and was a state Democratic delegate.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children; Mark Payne, Kristin Payne, Sara (McAllister) Keough and Amanda McAllister; his siblings, Janet Hale, Dr. William H. McAllister, Dr. Robert McAllister, Helen Rector, Lance McAllister, Russell McAllister, Georgia McAllister and Deborah King; his grandchildren, Brandon Fields, Chelsea Pierrott, Madison Keough, Aidan Contrerus, Ashton Pierrott and Jaxson Contrerus; and his great grandchildren, Ethan and Riley Fields. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
Calling hours will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St.,(Rt.123) BROCKTON on Saturday, July 30th from 3:00 to 8:00PM. Interment with Military honors will be on Monday, August 1st at 11:30am in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. A memorial service/repose will be held on Sunday, July 31st at 11:00AM at the Shaw's Center, 1 Feinberg Way, Brockton
