Obituary

Wilfred L. Hathaway, 84, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at his home in Plymouth surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of over 47 years of Muriel (Staples) (Prime) Hathaway of Plymouth. Born November 6, 1933 in Taunton, MA he was the son of the late Frederick C. & Albina (Champney) Hathaway. Wil was a recent resident of Plymouth, spending most of his life in West Bridgewater. He was a graduate of the Wentworth Institute of Technology and worked as a service technician for Bay State Gas Co., retiring after more than 40 years of service. He proudly served in the Army during the Korean War. Wil also loved to travel, especially taking cruises. He was an avid bowler and member of the VFW Post 697 in Whitman. Wil was very active with the West Bridgewater Senior Center, as well as St. Ann's Church in West Bridgewater. In addition to his wife Muriel, he is survived by a son; Douglas Prime and his wife Noreen of Bridgewater, a daughter; Pamela Hagianis and her husband John of Derry, N.H., Five grandchildren, Sarah, Robert and Jonathan Prime and Nick and Mark Hagianis; his godson, Stanley Tokarz of Taunton and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings; Louise Ulak, Mildred Conway, George Hathaway, Emma Ouellette, Alan Hathaway, Agnes Tokarz, Harold Hathaway, Frederick Clifton Hathaway, Josephine Hathaway and Dorothy Ouellette. Calling hours Monday, July 9th from 10:00am to 12:00pm in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 So. Main St., (Rt.28) West Bridgewater, MA 02379 followed by a funeral Mass for the repose of his soul at 12:30PM at St. Ann's Church, 103 No. Main St., West Bridgewater. Private cremation will follow.
