Obituary

William R. Christie, age 86, of Brockton died peacefully on March 3, 2018 at the Braemoor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after a long period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Eleanor Christie, who passed in January. Born and raised in Boston, he was the son of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Currie) Christie.

Following his education William enlisted in the US Army and proudly served our country from 1951 to 1959, where he received the Good Conduct, National Defense Service, United Nations Service Medals, the Korean Service with a Bronze Service Star and a Sharpshooters Badge. He worked for many years in the construction trade and was Shop Forman for Bird and Son Roofing for more than 20 years, retiring many years ago.

Bill is survived by his children; William R. Christie, Jr of FL, Mary Bedard, Evelyn Decker and Elaine Christie all of Brockton, two sisters; Mary Brennan of Wilmington, Jackie, Laury Christie and the late Bobby and Peggy. Survived by 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday March 7, 2018 from 9:30 – 10:30 am, immediately followed by a funeral home service. William will be buried along side his wife in the Massachusetts National Cemetery Bourne at 12:30 pm.
