Obituary

William R. Doherty, 83 years, of Brockton, died Saturday at Baypointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. He was born in Brockton a son of the late Robert H. and Mary L. (McEachron) Doherty. He was a lifelong resident of Brockton, and was a graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1937. During WWII he served in the US 8th Air Force as a Staff Sergeant, serving in England, he was a Line Chief of B-24’s. He had been employed for many years at the former Wind Specialties in Brockton.

He is survived by his wife Jennie A. (Caparotta) Doherty, one son Richard W. Doherty of Rockland, three daughters, Roberta Emberg of Bourne, Jennifer Doherty of East Dennis and Brenda Rogers of Yerrington, NV, a sister Barbara Maloney of Halifax, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, and was the brother of the late Robert Doherty.

A graveside service will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, at a later date.
