William Hakeem
William J. Hakeem, Sr., 100, of Brockton, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was the loving husband of the late Theresa (Asack) Hakeem.
William was born on May 29, 1915, son of the late Joseph and Sophia Hakeem. He was raised in Fall River and was one of six children who were 1st generation Lebanese Americans. He joined the United States Army Air Force division and served as 1st Sergeant Military Police while stationed in Europe during World War II. Upon his honorary discharge, he met and married his loving wife Theresa.
William worked at Atlantic Mills for 20 years managing retail stores. After retiring, he continued to work into his 80s running a chain of convenience stores and gas stations with his son-in-law. William called Brockton his home where he enjoyed playing cards, watching wrestling, reading, gardening and most especially spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He was so active in his later years, he followed his granddaughter Danielle to college in Georgia.
He was a communicant of St. Theresa Maronite Catholic Church where he helped with bingo for many years.
He is survived by his children, William J. Hakeem, Jr. and his wife Jessica, Paula Gebrayel, Carol Maker and Michael Hakeem; his grandchildren, Rory Maker, Lyal Tonelli and her husband Anthony, Kara Maker, Danielle Gebrayel, Michael Gebrayel, Laura Gebrayel, Matthew Maker, Alyssa Maker, Stephanie Hakeem and Samantha Hakeem; his great grandchildren, Maximus and Leyla; he is also survived by close family members, Robert Hakeem, Sami Gebrayel and William Phillips.

Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (RT123) Brockton on Thursday, October 22nd at 9:30AM followed by Service of the Devine Liturgy in St. Theresa Maronite Catholic Church, 343 North Main St., Brockton at 10:30AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00-8:00PM.
