January 19, 1942 – December 8, 2023
William "Billy" Keady, 81, of Bridgewater, MA, passed away surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness at Good Samaritan Hospital on December 8, 2023. He is survived by his wife Barbara (Nee) Keady, his children, David and Kevin Keady, and his grandchildren Sean and Sarah Keady. The oldest of 10 siblings he is also survived by his brothers Michael and Thomas Keady, his sisters Mary Ann Concannon, Ann Nee, Kathleen Flaherty, and Nora Joyce as well as numerous nieces and nephews, friends and family who will miss him greatly.
Billy was born on January 19, 1942 in Knockadoe, Co. Galway, Ireland. As a young man he grew up in the western countryside working on the farm and looking after his siblings. At 16 he moved to London, England to work as a laborer. Shortly after he immigrated to Norwood, MA in 1963. A few years later he met Barbara who would become his wife. They were married in 1970, they had their first son, David, in 1975, and then their second, Kevin, in 1977. Billy worked at Boston City Hall and Boston Housing Authority as a boiler technician for over 30 years. In addition, he also ran a successful landscaping business with his family.
Billy enjoyed a variety of activities. He loved attending Irish seisiúns and would often join in to sing a song of his own. He was also very creative and wrote poetry about friends and family over the years. He could often be found on a Sunday cheering on the Patriots or the Bruins. He enjoyed getting out on his bike and riding for miles. Most of all he enjoyed taking trips with his family to New Hampshire and Cape Cod.
Visitation will be held at the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 South Main Street West Bridgewater on Wednesday, December 13th from 4 to 7 pm. His funeral mass will be at St. John's Catholic Church, 210 Central Street East Bridgewater on Thursday December 14th at 10 a.m. Interment to immediately follow at Center Cemetery, 40 Oldham Street, Pembroke.
