Maturo
November 1, 1943 – September 6, 2023
William "Bill" Maturo, 79, of West Bridgewater passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Advent Health Hospital in Daytona, FL. He was the husband of Joanne (Hirtle) Maturo who was by his side as he passed.
Bill was born in Boston, MA on November 1, 1943. He was the son of late William Maturo and Marie (Sullivan) Maturo. He was an active church member and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Bill loved spending time with family and his grandchildren, and especially loved living part time in FL. He enjoyed walks on the beach, swimming in the pool, grocery shopping at multiple stores, watching the Patriots, playing card games and cribbage with family, watching FOX News, and watching his old western movies. He especially loved memories of family vacations in North Conway.
In 1961, Bill graduated from Dorchester High School where he played drums. In addition to school, he played for St. Kevin's Church, and the Marine Drum & Bugle Corps.
Bill worked for the Boston Fire Department for 32 years and retired as Acting Chief. He also worked for Houghton Chemical in Brighton for many years.
In addition to his wife Joanne, Bill is survived by his children. Lynne (and Robert) Matthews, James Maturo, Michelle (and Mark) Vigliotti, and Diane (and Noel) Sierra. He had 8 grandchildren: Joshua & Marcus Matthews, Robert James Maturo, Mikayla & Madison Vigliotti, Jeremiah, Mya, & Hailey (Baker) Sierra. He is also survived by his sister Linda Maturo and many friends. He is predeceased by his sister Gail Estes.
Bill is remembered by his beautiful smile and love for his family.
Visitation hours will be Wednesday, September 20, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Russell and Pica Funeral Home, 441 South Main Street (Rt 28), West Bridgewater, MA. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 21, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, 103 North Main Street, West Bridgewater, MA. Procession will follow to Blue Hills Cemetery, 700 West Street, Braintree, MA.
