Obituary

William E. O'Donnell, Jr. William E. O'Donnell, Jr. , 83, a longtime resident of Brockton, passed away Friday, June 17, 2011 at his current home in Bridgewater surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Patricia M. (Russell) O'Donnell. Born January 28, 1928 in Brockton, he was the son of the late William E. O'Donnell and Josephine S. (L'Heureux) O'Donnell. Raised in Brockton, Bill graduated from Brockton High School in 1947. He served in United States Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Los Angeles. Bill worked as a coppersmith at the Boston Naval Shipyard in Charlestown before dedicating much of his life to working for the City of Brockton as a carpenter and building inspector. He also worked as a real estate agent for many years before opening Bill O'Donnell Realty. He was a lifetime communicant of St. Edward's Church in Brockton where he served on the Parish Council and Finance Committee. Bill also helped to create the St. Edward Church Renovation Fund. He was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed furniture restoration, antiquing and going to horse races. Along with his wife of 59 years, Patricia M. (Russell) O'Donnell, he is survived by his loving children, Susan Dundon of Middleboro, William "Skip" O'Donnell, III and his wife Janet of Bridgewater, John O'Donnell and his wife Lisa of Brockton, Michael O'Donnell of Denver, CO and Cathleen Brien and her husband Steven of Bridgewater; his adored grandchildren, Caitlin Dundon, Brian Dundon, Cristen O'Donnell, Meghan O'Donnell, Sean O'Donnell, Emily Brien, Patrick Brien, Aidan Brien, Jack O'Donnell and Lauren O'Donnell; his brother Louis O'Donnell of Bridgewater; his brother-in-law and good friend Edmund Skinner of Hyannis; his nephew William Russell of Marlboro and several other nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Eva Skinner. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Karim Malek for his compassionate and devoted care over the past five and a half years. We would also like to thank Doris Riordan from Hospice of Boston and Greater Brockton for her guidance and care. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Tuesday, June 21st at 9:00AM thence to St. Edith Stein/St. Edward Parish, 71 East Main St., Brockton where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home Monday 4:00-8:00PM.
