Online Obituaries Wiilie Roy Evans, 74, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016 at his home in Randolph under the care of his family. He was the husband of the late Lillie Mae Evans. He was born in Morton, Mississippi on April 5, 1942 to the late John and Julia Evans. Willie was united in marriage to Lillie Mae Dorsey in 1962, and of their union, they were blessed with four children; Willie Roy Evans Jr., Michael Evans, Jeanette Dorsey and Linda (Diane) Evans. A devoted husband and father, Willie was determined to provide his family with a better life, so shortly after their marriage, he and Lillie packed up their belongings and headed to Boston, MA with all four children in tow! A dedicated and hardworking man, Willie worked various jobs throughout his life, eventually obtaining a position with NECCO and retiring after 15 years of employment. Early on in life, Willie was saved and baptized in the Mississippi River; and once in Boston, he and his family found a home within Holy Temple Church in Roxbury, MA. Willie was loved by all who knew him and he took special joy in what it meant to be a family; FAMILY one of lifes greatest blessings. The people who know you best and the people you love the most. Willie was truly a family man and he loved spending time with his! Whether it was giving cookouts, going fishing, or working on cars with his nephews, FAMILY in every sense of the word meant the world to him! Pop as he was affectionately known to the neighborhood kids, had a loving, caring and generous heart of gold. If you were ever in need, he always made a way; from always having a hot plate of food or a place for someone to rest their head, to risking his own life saving his family from a burning building Willie was always there willing and ready to help! Although a no-nonsense man, he loved a hearty laugh and having a good time. His courteous manner, genial disposition and sterling integrity attracted all with whom he came in contact with; which are just some of the reasons he will be tremendously missed and lovingly thought of, ALWAYS! Willie is preceded in death by his wife Lillie Mae Evans, their two sons, Michael Evans and Willie Roy Evans Jr., brother, Lazarus Evans and grandson, Maurice Young. To cherish his memory, he leaves Daughters, Jeanette Dorsey and Linda (Diane) Evans; Siblings, Julia Ivory, Betty Simmons, Jacob Evans, Fred Evans and Nathaniel Simmons. 8 grandchildren, Shemeka Evans,Tanaya Evans, Lashunda Evans, Michael Stalling, Melinda Biddy, Diana Biddy and Lee Young. He also leaves 11 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of other extended family and friends. Funeral Information Calling hours in the Lincoln Congregational Church, 180 Oak Street, Brockton on Friday, August 12, from 11:00AM - 12:00PM followed by a funeral service in the church at 12:00PM. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, 45 Fairview Ave., Hyde Park, MA 02136.
