Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ms. Yolanda Faye Wheat Bush on January 27, 2025 at Boston Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services and visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 at New Life Christian Church located at 184 West Elm Street, Brockton, MA 02301. Visitation from 9:30-10:45 am., funeral at 11:00 am.

Ms. Yolanda Faye Wheat Bush departed this life on January 27, 2025. She was born on August 6, 1955 to the late Robert (Ben) and Mary Toomer Wheat of Prichard, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, and spouse, Mario James Bush and devoted friend, Diane Damon.

Faye, as she was lovingly known by family, confessed her life at an early age and was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Prichard, Alabama. Faye was a proud graduate of C.F. Vigor High School, class of 1973 and pursued a career in culinary arts.

Yolanda's spirit shined brightly through her selflessness. She was a woman who believed in the power of giving, always willing to open her home to others and share what little she had. Whether it was feeding someone in need, offering a place to stay, or giving her last dollar to someone struggling. Yolanda was a gifted cook, and her culinary creations were a source of comfort to all who sat at her table. Yolanda's heart was always open and her compassion knew no bounds.

A lover of life's simple pleasures, Yolanda found joy in the little things. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends playing board games, especially Monopoly. She also had a special fondness for Winnie the Pooh and collected them throughout her life. Her love for these things reflected the playful and nurturing side of her personality.

Upon moving to Brockton, MA, she joined New Life Christian Church. Her warmth and zest for life and people were reflected in her role as an usher where she served her community with grace.

Yolanda was a beacon of love, kindness, and generosity to all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Yolanda's legacy of love, kindness, and service to others will continue to inspire all who were touched by her life. May she rest in peace knowing she made the world a better place simply by being who she was and represented.

She leaves to cherish her memory a loving daughter, Ophelia Wheat Bush, beloved son Benjamin Bush, six grandchildren, Jeremy Bush, Jamie Torres, Romeo Garcia, Eian Bush, Naiomy Bush, and Chloe Bush, all of Massachusetts. Three siblings, Brenda J. Howard (Gilbert Howard) of Atlanta, Ga, Annetta L. Wheat of Semmes, Al., Robert Wheat of Atlanta, Ga. She is also survived by three aunts, two uncles, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends, one of which is Sister Ranita Carter.
